Ursuline School
Monte Brothers of New York
The Ursuline School applauds a modern, new 500-seat theater, and a sound system from Monte Brothers to match.
Monte Brothers
Established in 1966, now one of the most well-respected and highly specialized systems integration firms in the tri-state New York area.
CHALLENGE
Design and install a flexible, efficient multi-purpose sound system that excels for any performance, from music to spoken word, with integrated voice-lift and music playback capabilities. Secure, remote adjustment of the system was also a must. The location: the 500-seat theater being constructed at the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York.
SOLUTION
The Audia® Digital Audio Platform at the heart of Monte Brothers' design extends system boundaries. Users can control the system securely via any computer at the mix position on the mezzanine, on the stage, or even from the audience via a laptop with a wireless Ethernet card. To provide greater versatility and consistency in sound quality, Monte Brothers configured the Audia software with preset control capabilities for both concerts and assemblies. Different levels of password protection allow multiple users to access the sound system, but limit usage to match individual skill set. Audia software provides easy selection, viewing and calibration of numerous audio components, such as mixers, equalizers, filters, crossovers, dynamics, routers, delays, level controls, meters and generators.
“With the Ethernet capability of Audia, the user has the ability to sit in the audience with a laptop computer and a wireless Ethernet card and control the concert. When the show is over, with a mouse click they can reconfigure the system to its previous preset. It's an awesome capability.”

- SYSTEM COMPONENTS
- Audia® software
- 1 Audia unit pre-configured with a 12 x 1 automixer and 12 x 3 standard mixer
- 4 Crown CT-410 power amps
- 2 Klipsch KI-302A 2-way loudspeakers

- 2 Klipsch KI-480X subwoofers
- 1 Aphex DA120 4-channel distribution amp
SYSTEM SPECIFICS
Monte Brothers specified an Audia unit pre-configured with a 12 x 1 automixer – which feeds the CAMM voice-lift speakers – and a 12 x 3 standard mixer, whose outputs feed the Klipsch loudspeakers on output one, and an Aphex DA120 4-channel distribution amp for tape recording and audio for video feed capabilities on output two. Output three is reserved for future Klipsch fold back stage monitors. The stage area is configured with four front stage microphone inputs, as well as four additional alternate overhead inputs that are ‘ganged' into two Audia inputs. Two Crown CT-410 power amps drive the primary mono FOH arrays, which consist of one Klipsch KI-302A two-way loudspeaker and one Klipsch KI-480X subwoofer per side. Two additional Crown CT-410 power amps drive the monophonic voice-lift and Hi-Q support loudspeaker system of four CAMM DT-2X loudspeakers.
CONCLUSIONS
Audia allows for a single platform operating on a single network, with the potential to easily expand to new areas and buildings as the school grows. Remote inputs and outputs eliminate unnecessary wiring and speed up installation. Audia's simplified design and installation, along with Biamp's 24/7 support provide greater efficiency – which equals more affordability for clients and more profitable installations for Monte Brothers.
“There's no worry about whether all of the speakers are going to fall in line when the intuitive Audia software reconfigures the system for music, assembly, or speech settings. With a password, Audia resets the entire system, so system output and signal processing are consistently perfect every time.”
- Steve Minozzi, Monte Brothers
